Graduate Certificate Course

Background

CDA partnered with Robert Gordon University (RGU) to develop a Graduate Certificate in Petroleum Data Management, with the aim of promoting the understanding of subsurface exploration and production data management, recognising its importance to upstream oil and gas businesses.

The first intake of the course commenced in September 2016, delivered entirely online through RGU’s virtual learning environment. The course was designed with input from across the industry, and is aimed at both new entrants to Data Management, as well as those who are currently in the role and who wish to formalise their knowledge and experience.

Independent short course

The first module of the course is also available as an independent short course: Managing Subsurface Exploration and Production Data
This course is studied online over 16 weeks. Students completing the short course can go on to take the full Graduate Certificate course and be exempted from the equivalent module of the full course.

Course Dates

The first intake of the short course is in January 2019.
The full course is currently in its third intake; the next intake is in September 2019.

In July 2017, fourteen students from across the globe were the very first to be awarded a Graduate Certificate in Petroleum Data Management. In December 2017 CDA won an award for the innovative development of this course: Best eLearning / Online Education in the UK Association Awards.
