Course information: MSc Petroleum Data Management programme
Funding opportunities: University of Aberdeen Funding Database

CDA, representing sponsors Chevron, Shell, and Total, worked with academic institutions to set up education at Masters level. The first such programme is offered by the University of Aberdeen, which commenced in September 2018.

Two modes of delivery are available: Full-time on campus and Part-time online.

The syllabus covers techniques for the management of subsurface data, including well, geophysical, reservoir, and spatial data, and implications for data science and analytics; considerations on data quality, data governance, and legal and security aspects; service and project management; and a final project and dissertation to be carried out by each student.

Support has been provided to two universities in the US also – Rice University and Texas A&M University – to develop programmes at Masters’ level with an energy data component.
